Budapest, 3 p.m. CET, 31 March 2020.
This is an official communication of the Organisers of the 33rd International Symposium on Chromatography – ISC2020, Budapest.
The Chairman of the Symposium together with the Local Organisers and the Permanent Scientific Committee of ISC2020 have been continuously monitoring the epidemic situation caused by the coronavirus. Seemingly, whole Europe is very much affected now and the recovery from the epidemic situation is unpredictable.
Having taken into consideration all facts, circumstances and eventual consequences, the organisers wish to inform you that the ISC2020 Symposium will NOT be organised in Budapest this September but will be postponed to 18-22 September 2022, having the same conference venue, Budapest Congress Center, Budapest, Hungary. Therefore, we kindly ask you to cancel your travel plans for this September.
The main reasons of our decision are as follows:
- practically the whole scientific community in under travel ban these days, no travels and registrations are allowed by the universities and companies even for future meetings,
- the internal company regulations above in addition to the ones introduced by the European countries, USA and other countries worldwide make the organisers impossible to pursue a prompt strategic planning of the Symposium
- the uncertainty in travel arrangement may take a longer period than expected or estimated
- it may be impossible or extremely difficult to keep the original dates and milestones of the organisation, thereby the threat of having significantly less attendance should be considered.
According to the opinion of the organisers, having a scientifically and financially well organised Symposium in a safe environment in 2 years time will be more appreciated by all stakeholders of the community of Chromatography, and the participants, our key Sponsors and Exhibitors will share our opinion and hopefully understand our decision.
The Committee counts on your continuous support and participation. The organisers will contact each and every registered delegate, exhibitor or sponsor separately in a form of an individual personalised email.
You are kindly requested to keep the contact with us, because your lectures, posters and personal participation is very important for us. Abstracts that have already been submitted for ISC2020 this September will NOT be considered for 2022, so our authors are free to submit it for other meetings. These abstracts will be deleted and will not count as an official publication for 2020, as the Symposium will not be held in 2020. No further notification will be sent on abstracts.
Last, but definitely not least, the organisers wish to express their appreciation to our key Sponsors and Exhibitors for their financial commitment and for maintaining their support for ISC2022.
On behalf of the Organisers
